Day at the Spa

Hey there!

This month YL is giving out two great essential oils (plus two skincare items, a supplement, and Thieves Scrub)... and this diffuser recipe combines them both to create some relaxing spa vibes. If you don’t have Sacred Sandalwood, you can try Cedarwood instead. Try it and let me know what you think!

Back to School

Adults and kids benefit from the emotional support and from the cleansed, healthy air to breathe. Did you know that all YL diffusers are humidifiers and that germs spread way less in humidified air? Pretty awesome.

Creating a positive association with the school and learning through aroma is enormous By diffusing oils in our learning environment, we can actually help the brain to invoke feelings of excitement, security & positivity. After all the adjustments, trials, and overwhelming emotions we’ve been through this year, doing this is a beautiful way to love our students in the classroom or during homeschooling.

Product Spotlight

Chances are you will be spending a lot of time outside this month and next - out in the garden, at the pool or the beach, baseball games, hiking, or just enjoying a walk through the neighborhood. Exposure to sunlight is good for the soul… and your health! When your skin is exposed to sunlight, it makes Vitamin D from cholesterol. This vitamin plays an important role in our immune system so it can be hugely beneficial. However, overexposure to the sun can lead to burned skin, wrinkles, eye injuries, and even skin cancer. So let’s protect that beautiful skin, shall we?
Young Living’s Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 is the perfect solution! It’s a natural, broad-spectrum sunscreen and is chemical-free, making it a healthy alternative for adults and kids. You don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals - like a LOT of the mainstream sunscreens contain. This dermatologist-reviewed product is formulated to easily smooth on skin without leaving a white residue. Enjoy the outdoors worry-free with up to 80 minutes of water- and sweat-resistant lotion. It’s reef-safe and made with non-nano zinc oxide. This might just be the best sunscreen you’ve ever used!

Top TEN Must Have Oils!

It’s no secret: The scent of an essential oil can create waves of nostalgia or help you tap into emotions, and when some essential oils are taken internally, they can even improve overall health and wellness! With so many essential oils available, how do you choose which ones to add to your collection? While we’d love having every essential oil within arm’s reach, there are some you should always have on hand!

See why these oils made our top 10 lineups!

1. Lavender essential oil

People swoon over Lavender essential oil—and for good reason. Our top-selling oil is a standout in many Young Living products, including Lavender Calming Bath Bombs, Lavender Lip Balm, and Lavender Foaming Hand Soap. While this oil plays a supporting role in many YL favorites, it also shines as a solo artist with its soft, welcoming aroma.

How to use Lavender essential oil:

  • Tailor your signature scent. A fresh floral aroma adds a feminine touch to unscented lotion. Capture a field in full bloom when you pair Lavender with Geranium essential oil in your personal perfume.
  • Create a refreshing room spray. Mix 1 cup of distilled water and 10 drops of Lavender in a glass spray bottle. Spritz the air, blankets, and carpets for a sweet springtime scent.
  • Soothe the irritations. Soaked up too much sun? Boost your skin’s moisture by mixing Lavender oil with aloe vera gel.

2. Thieves® essential oil blend

Add a little spice while you keep everything nice—and clean—with Thieves essential oil blend. This powerhouse transforms many Young Living products, including cleaners, wipes, and hand purifiers! All ages crave the scent of this essential oil blend because of its familiar aroma; so when you’re planning your next cleaning extravaganza, make it a family affair.

How to use Thieves essential oil blend:

  • Refresh musty towels. Transform your sun-soaked beach towel into a cozy and clean one by adding 5 drops of Thieves to a load of laundry and detergent.
  • Take Thieves on the go! Invite the rich cinnamon scent to any occasion with Thieves Roll-On!
  • Enjoy a breath of fresh air. Diffuse Thieves essential oil blend for a warm, clean aroma.

3. Peppermint essential oil

Anytime is the right time to get peppy with Peppermint essential oil. Include this cheerleader oil in your collection for its fresh, uplifting features. It’s especially handy when midday slumps show up! Simply pop the bottle lid and breathe in the crisp, minty scent.

How to use Peppermint essential oil:

  • Soak in Epsom salts. Mix 3 drops of Peppermint, 4 drops of Eucalyptus Blue, and 1 cup of Epsom salt and add them to the tub for an invigorating, luxurious bath.
  • Tackle head tension. Dilute Peppermint with a few drops of carrier oil and apply to your neck, temples, and jawline for some relief.
  • Freshen your hair oil. Add 2 drops of Peppermint to a small amount of hair oil and give your scalp a stimulating 2-minute massage.

4. Lemon essential oil
Finding the sunny side in every situation is easy when you have Lemon essential oil because it brightens everything it touches. Its cheery citrus vibes coupled with versatile uses makes this oil worthy to be in our top 10!

How to use Lemon essential oil:

  • Get rid of gunk. Lemon essential oil erases sticky residue from stickers and gum when applied directly.
  • Up the ante on your nighttime skin care routine. Add a drop of Lemon to your night cream* for a bright complexion.
  • Spruce up your trash can. Tired of stale smells? Put a few drops of Lemon on a cotton ball and stash it in your garbage can when empty.

*Because citrus oil can cause photosensitivity, avoid applying Lemon to exposed skin before spending time outside.

5. Purification® essential oil blend

Let’s clear the air—literally—with Purification. Take out offending odors with this blend that features Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Tea Tree, and other lovely oils. This synergized blend of herbaceous, sweet, clean, and refreshing scents can be used everywhere!

How to use Purification essential oil blend:

  • Dispose of bad kitchen odors. After running your garbage disposal, add 3-4 drops of Purification for a sweet, fresh scent.
  • Freshen your bathroom space. Put 2 drops of Purification inside the cardboard of the toilet paper roll for a gentle, pleasant aroma.

6. R.C.™ essential oil blend

Recruit R.C. essential oil blend as your next fitness buddy! It’s featured in our Active & Fit Kit and found in many gym bags because of its feel-good features. It includes chilly, earthy oils such as Spruce, Cypress, Eucalyptus Globulus, and Eucalyptus Radiata.

Whether you craft a strand for yourself or gift some garland to a friend, these unique DIY garlands fill any space with a little extra holiday spirit

Pine Tree Paradise Garland

From choosing which beautiful tree you’ll take home to placing the last present under its decorated boughs, a fresh pine tree is a hallmark of the holidays! Invite in its fresh scent with this holiday-ready garland.

Pine essential oil in the snow

Spray ingredients

  • 4 ounces distilled water
  • 2 ounces witch hazel or rubbing alcohol
  • 18 drops Pine
  • 9 drops Cedarwood
  • 9 drops Peppermint
  • 4 drops Spearmint

Instructions

1. Choose your string and your felt ball colors. We recommend using 1 mm unwaxed cotton cord. Try alternating between dark green, heather gray, and olive green felt balls for a forest-inspired look!

2. Find the length of your garland. Take your string and drape it where you want the garland. Measure it to make sure you have enough string and felt balls to reach the desired length and leave about 15 extra inches on the end of your thread when you cut it.

3. Thread the balls on the string. Time to get threading! Tie a loop in one end of your string. Next, thread on your first felt ball using a sturdy metal yarn needle. Secure the bauble by tying a knot in the string. About 3 inches down, tie another knot for your next felt ball to rest against. Continue this pattern of knot, bauble, knot for a cute, quirky design with space between each felt ball! Finish it off with a second loop so your garland is ready to hang.

4. Make your Pine Tree Paradise spray. Put 2 ounces of witch hazel or rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle to help your oils blend with the water. Next, add 18 drops of Pine, 9 drops of Cedarwood, 9 drops of Peppermint, and 4 drops of Spearmint to the spray bottle. Pour in 4 ounces of distilled water, and you’re ready to wrap up your project!

5. Spray your garland. Spritz your garland and invite in that evergreen scent! Every time you walk in the room, you’ll be reminded of cozying up with loved ones under the glow of the tree.
